
Is travel insurance/trip protection worth it?
For me, the answer is (mostly) “yes”
Depending on the trip you’re taking, travel insurance/trip protection is definitely something to consider.
As the travel industry, the world, and the climate continue to change, sometimes the “unthinkable” can come up and you’ll need to cancel your trip. Why risk being out all of the money on top of the feeling of not being able to go on the trip you were looking forward to?
While some trips may not warrant travel insurance/trip protection, if you’re planning on an extensive trip (cruise, overseas travel, etc.), it may be something you seriously want to consider.

According to US News & World Report, US health insurance policies don’t typically cover health or medical happenings overseas.
I’m not a hot weather, tropical destinations in the middle of summer kind of person so I understand if you aren’t either. But, that will sometimes put me in a position where I’m traveling to those places during active weather seasons.
Some travel insurance/trip protection policies will allow you to “cancel for any reason” and not lose out on the total value of your trip.
